The Southern Maine Agency on Aging is accepting applications for a 40 hour/week Information and Referral Specialist, to be an integral member of the Information & Advocacy team serving older adults and their caregivers. The primary function of this position will be the provision of information and referrals on a call-in and/or walk-in basis, but may also include other tasks.
Minimum requirements include but are not limited to: Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Gerontology, or related field, and a social work license. At least one year of community experience in working with the elderly and demonstrated knowledge of community resources and benefit programs. Excellent interpersonal skills both written and oral, a high level of critical thinking skills, the ability to collaborate and work in teams, and excellent time management and organizational skills. Computer literacy is essential. Preference will be given to those with actual experience in information and referral assistance.
