Our Board of Directors is a diverse group of leaders who bring a variety of talents, experiences and expertise to the governance of the Southern Maine Agency on Aging.

Judi Austin, Portland Ms. Austin is a vice president for business development and sales management at TD Bank, in Portland, Maine. Her volunteer work was recognized by WCSH TV where she was selected as a “6 Who Care” honoree in 2000. She has chaired the Southern Maine Agency on Aging’s Money Minders Advisory Committee since its inception. |

Terry Blanchard, Biddeford Ms. Blanchard is presently the treasurer of the Southern Maine Agency on Aging. She was previously employed with SMMC Visiting Nurses; Coopers & Lybrand in Boston; CFO with Community Care Systems; CFO at VNA Home Health Care; Director of Budget Reimbursement at Goodall Hospital and Controller at Sweetser. |

E. Michael Brady, Ph.D., Gorham Mr. Brady is presently a Professor of Adult Education at the University of Southern Maine. He holds degrees from St. Mary's Seminary and University (B.A, M. Div.) and the University of Connecticut (M.S.W., Ph.D). He teaches graduate courses in adult education theory, action research, facilitation, and gerontology. He also holds a research appointment in the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Southern Maine.

Stan Cohen, President, Bridgton Mr. Cohen had a long career as a marketing executive with Polaroid Corporation in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and was national director of the public school component of A Better Chance, Inc. He retired in 2000 after serving as director of financial operations of Bridgton Academy and presently serves on the Board of the Lakes Environmental Association. |

Jack Evans, Falmouth Mr. Evans was vice chair, Manufacturers Hanover Trust Co. in New York City (now part of J.P. Morgan Chase) and trustee and interim director of the Portland Museum of Art. He is past chair and chief executive officer of Maine Life Care, Inc. (Piper Shores) in Scarborough, Maine and currently a board member and interim director of the Victorian Mansion. He also serves on the Board of Greater Portland Landmarks. |

Marilyn Gugliucci, Kennebunk Ms. Gugliucci has a doctorate in Gerontology and is director of the Geriatric Education and Research Department of Family Medicine at the College of Osteopathic Medicine, University of New England in Biddeford, Maine. She did her post doctoral research fellowship on “Aging Research” with the National Institute on Aging through Boston University. Her doctorate dissertation is titled, “Including Elders’ Voices: A Model for Gerontology Curriculum Design in Higher Education.” Ms. Gugliucci is currently the president of the National Association for Gerontology in Higher Education. |

Francis "Bud" Guthrie, Cape Elizabeth Mr. Guthrie is a management consultant. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Penobscot Shoe Company (AMEX) for fifteen years and with the UNUM Corporation in senior management positions for thirteen years. |

Jud Knox, York Mr. Knox is President of York Hospital, a 79 bed community hospital located in York, Maine. Jud started his career in hospital administration in 1971 and has held positions in Waterville and Camden. He became President of York Hospital in 1982 and has enjoyed serving the community for the last 28 years. Jud is a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University and George Washington University. |

Joseph T. Miller, Scarborough Mr. Miller is presently employed as an Insurance Agent and owner of Farm Family Miller Associates. Joe was president of the Board of Maine Senior Games, Inc. which recently merged with the Southern Maine Agency on Aging. |

Charlene Thompson, Saco Ms. Thompson is a retired educator who served as president of the Maine Retired Teachers’ Association from 2001 to 2003. Active in educator advocacy, Ms. Thompson has served in a variety of leadership positions at local, county and state levels. She also was county and state president of The American Association of University Women and interim president of AARP Maine. |

Martin C. Womer, Saco Mr. Womer is president and managing attorney of the Maine Center for Elder Law, LLC, a law firm based in Kennebunk and with a second office in Yarmouth. He is a graduate of Colby College and the University of Maine School of Law. His practice focuses on elder law, including MaineCare eligibility and other long-term-care planning, estate planning, trust and estate settlement, guardianships and conservatorships, veterans aid and attendance benefits, and charitable giving. He is the chair of SMAA’s planned giving advisory committee. |
