The Southern Maine Agency on Aging offers a wide range of programs and services for seniors living in York and Cumberland counties. These programs and services are designed to foster independence, reduce the burden on family and caregivers, and promote an active and healthy lifestyle for Maine seniors.

Information & Referral
Our licensed social workers have access to a wealth of resources especially for older adults and those under age 60 with disabilities.
Support & Assistance
Sometimes ongoing help is needed to work through the process of finding housing, applying for financial benefits or staying connected to helpful social service programs. Our social workers welcome the chance to help!
Family Caregiver Support Program
Our Family Caregiver Support & Assistance Program is here to lend a hand to the family caregivers of older adults. We offer classes, regular support groups and online chat as well one-on-one individualized support and guidance.
Respite Care
Our Partners in Caring Program provides respite care for people who are taking care of family members or friends with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia. Caregivers need a break and we’re here to help!
Health Insurance Counseling
Our staff and Volunteer Medicare Specialists help sort through your Medicare options and benefits. We recommend that your prescription drug coverage be reviewed every year between November 15 and December 31.
Elder Care Management
Senior Solutions Program offers unbiased Elder Care Managers who can be hired to help select and manage home care and alternative home care solutions for your family.
Independent Housing with Services
Our Housing Program offers independent living options with optional support services such as cleaning, laundry, personal care and meals to help seniors remain independent.
Truslow Adult Day Center
Founded more than 25 years ago, this adult day center provides care, recreation and nutrition for older adults who need physical or emotional support during the day.
Healthy Aging
We offer classes on a variety of issues that affect older adults. Classes help seniors improve their balance and fitness or deal with chronic illness.
Meals on Wheels
Volunteers deliver healthy meals to homebound seniors who are not able to grocery shop and/or prepare a balanced meal.
Luncheons
At Senior Dining Centers throughout York and Cumberland counties, the Southern Maine Agency on Aging hosts luncheons for seniors—giving seniors a hot meal along with a chance to socialize with others.
Maine Senior Games
A series of athletic events that bring senior athletes together each summer. Open to persons at least age 50 from all over Maine and the country.
Easy Adventures
A health promotion initiative that coordinates low intensity, fun outdoor activities for aging adults (the 50+/- set, we like to say!).
